I'm completely on board for a more rational and informed discussion of UAPs (and also commend you for reaching outside the ivory tower, it's a welcome trend) but to claim that "We are left with this small collection of unexplained images and some dubious claims by some dubious people," is simply inaccurate. I'm not part of the Ufology or "Disclosure" community, but I'm familiar with the literature produced by serious researchers, and the picture that emerges is one of an absolutely, ontologically real phenomenon, one that Jacques Vallee legitimately called "a challenge to science." I encourage you to take a deeper look at it.
